Upcoming Tax Deadlines for Australian Businesses
As we approach the end of February, Australian businesses are reminded of several important tax deadlines fast approaching. These deadlines include:
- 21 February: The deadline to lodge and pay the January 2023 monthly business activity statement.
- 28 February: The deadline to lodge and pay the quarter 2, 2022-23 activity statement for all lodgment methods. Additionally, if an employer did not pay enough contributions on time, they must also lodge and pay the quarter 2, 2022-23 Superannuation guarantee charge statement.
It’s important to note that employers who are required to lodge a Superannuation guarantee charge statement can choose to offset contributions they paid late to a fund against their super guarantee charge for the quarter. However, they are still responsible for paying the remaining super guarantee charge.
It’s also worth noting that the super guarantee charge is not tax deductible, so businesses should ensure they are meeting their obligations promptly and accurately.
Businesses are always encouraged to seek professional advice if they have any questions or concerns about their tax obligations.
